JMSDF Oyashio Class

First launched in 1998, Japan's 3,600-ton displacement Oyashio Class submarines are propelled by diesel/electric power and can launch a variety of missiles and torpedoes from six torpedo tubes. By 2007 ten Oyashio Class submarines will be in service with the JMSDF.
